Tillman Vice is now 33 years old and has always lived in Falls City. When he was going in to the 7th grade, he went in for a school physical to play sports and found that he had a hole in his heart since birth. Tillman had open heart surgery shortly afterward and has done well since. He currently works at Home Lumber and is a very healthy and active person.
Hailey Dorste is currently 11 years old and has also always live in Falls City. She was born with the Congenital Heart Defect called Transportation of the Greater Arteries. This defect is when large vessels that take blood away from the heart to the lungs, or to the body, are improperly connected. Hailey had her 1st open heart surgery when she was 2 weeks old. When Hailey was 3, she had another open heart surgery. She has additionally had a total of three heart catheterizations. Hailey is in the 4th grade at South School and enjoys soccer, playing softball and is currently playing basketball. She has had all of her procedures done at Omaha Children's Hospital and Midwest Heart Connection has provided care packages when she was in the hospital.
Anyone local who would like their story included here, please Email me a short paragraph. Although CHD doesn't hit every family directly, almost every family knows someone who it has effected whether they realize it or not.
